Field Medical Training Battalion

This eight week course included a mix of classroom and field training. Field Medical Training Battalion’s emphasis is placed on learning field medicine by using the philosophies of Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC), which I am also a certified instructor for. Field Medical Training Battalion (West) includes familiarization with USMC organization and procedures, logistics and administrative support in a field environment. Additionally, training included general military topics, individual and small unit tactics, military drills, physical training/conditioning and weapons handling.

Senior Line Corpsmen, Alpha Battery
December 27th, 2009 – September 16th, 2012
Assisted the 1st Battalion 12th Marine surgeon, Dr. Rhadamas Lizardo, during clinic hours. Procedures ranged from writing SOAP notes, examinations, to performing minor surgeries under his supervision. Also, providing medical coverage for Marines during on base exercises.
During deployment I assisted in the health and wellness of more than 200 Marines and Sailors across both Fire Base Saenz and Forward Operating Base Zeebrugge. While Deployed, I conducted 65 combat patrols as the sole medical provider, and conducted medical evacuations for both battle and non-combat related injuries. I treated more than 35 local national Afghan army soldiers, and uniformed police officers.
